The Zody Family

Meet the Zody family, Greg, Blake, Mackenzie, and Samantha:


This weekend we met up with the Zodys in historic downtown Grapevine, Texas, at the vintage train station. Already embracing the holiday season, the train station was fully decorated with Christmas trees:


Here their youngest, Blake, pretends to work an old wheel:


Then we moved to a platform and told the kids to have some fun:

Rochelle saw the situation from another angle, and got this shot of the kids playing while I photographed mom and dad:



Blake loved look at and exploring the big train cars:


Turns out, so did Mackenzie!:


Greg suggested this shot of the yellow railroad building with the train cars in the back, and I think it turned out great:

Then the whole family posed for a shot standing on a flat car. You can really see the family resemblances in this photo!:


We took a short walk to the train tracks. Blake decided the rocks looked more fun than walking on the tracks:


but with some fun counting, he was game, and the foursome set off!:

Asia was all about the silly faces, and it seems like we did cartwheels to get her to look in some of the photos, but here she dropped her shy demeanor and gave me a big smile:

Teagan and Nels' Wedding

As I mentioned in my last post, Teagan and Nels were married on Halloween at Lantana Lodge in Pilot Point. They were blessed with gorgeous weather for the last day of October, and we were glad to share it with them. Here is a brief look at the day.

Teagan and one of her bridesmaids put on makeup upstairs in the bridal suite:


The only problem throughout the whole day, according to Teagan, was a tiny finger prick, which a kiss made all better:


Here are some group shots of Nels with his groomsmen and Teagan with her bridesmaids:




You couldn't tell in the last photo, but instead of more traditional footwear, Teagan sported bright red boots that matched her bridesmaids' dresses. We think it was a great choice!:


Right before the ceremony, the women peek through the blinds at the decorations, setup and guests, though Teagan makes sure she doesn't see Nels:


Then it was time to go outside! If you look closely, you can see that Nels' eyes were slightly red and teary as he watched his beautiful bride walk down the path towards him:


Teagan's father is also a minister, so after he gave her away, he stepped to the front and officiated the ceremony. Here he stands by Teagan just before giving her over, his personal bible in his hand:


The ceremony was full of beautiful prayer and reflection, as well as some funny parental perspective about Teagan and Nels in their youth. The couple also wrote their own vows, which were heartfelt and moving. The sun-kissed bride smiled as Nels said his vows:


Near the end, it was time for the rings. Here Nels slips the rings onto Teagan's finger:



After the walk back up the aisle, this time together, Teagan and Nels give a few hugs:


Back in the room for a moment, waiting to be introduced to the crowd, the bridal party mingles and feeds off of the excitement of the day. In the corner, Teagan and Nels share a poignant moment as husband and wife:


Teagan removes her veil and adjusts her hair as the setting sun casts a shadow across her face:


After the party made their grand re-entry, the couple shared their first dance as husband and wife. It was a sunset moment, just as Teagan had wanted:


After dinner and more greetings, the sun fully set, and everyone hit the dancefloor:


Time flies when you're having fun, and before anyone knew it, it was time to bid goodbyes to the pair. Guests lit sparklers as the new couple ran out to the car:


Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson! Have fun on your honeymoon!:

Teagan and Nels' Rehearsal Dinner

Teagan and Nels' are getting married today at Lantana Lodge, up off of lake Ray Roberts. The facility is gorgeous, and we can't wait for this evening.

Yesterday, we made it up there for the rehearsal. The wedding will be at sunset, as the rehearsal was, and so a very warm tone was cast over everything. They are also blessed with beautiful weather at the end of October for an outdoor wedding!

Perhaps I should have mentioned that the rehearsal doubled as a costume party! Teagan was an Indian, and Nels a cowboy.

Before the run-through of the ceremony, they rigged a pinata over the lawn:


and, unlike most pinatas I've experienced, it shattered on the first hit! I guess Nels must be feeling super powerful with those chaps on. I love the look of satisfaction on his face:


Nels' takes a moment to survey the beauty, and the sun dances past him:


Then it was time for rules and some prayer. Teagan's father is also a minister, and is officiating their marriage, so this prayer and love is very meaningful to Teagan and Nels as they start their new life together. Here Nels places a strong hand upon her back:


The couple lean together as a prayer is said:


Up at the altar, Teagan holds her ribbon bouquet, while her father explains the proceedings:


Afterwards, Teagan looks out into the sun setting over the lake:


Then it was time for dinner! We drove south just a bit, and ate dinner at the fantastic Prairie House restaurant off of 380. Inside, everyone shuffled and looked for a place to sit. Close friends and family caught up, and Teagan ran around passing out thank yous:


After a delicious dinner, some speeches were made:


Teagan and Nels were attentive and thankful during every speech. On either side of them sat their parents. Here Nels' mother looks on lovingly and he and Teagan share an embrace:

We are excited for this afternoon, and wish this couple the best in their future together!
