Don and Trang's Wedding

Apologies blog world for the lack of updates, I want to announce my new site that I've been working on is now live. Check it out! That said, I also want to show the latest wedding I've photographed.

Don and Trang held a beautiful wedding that took us around the Richardson/Garland area. We started in their home for their morning preparations. Guests attended from as far as Vietnam, via FaceTime.

They had the ceremony at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Garland and a lunch break followed shortly thereafter.

With some time in-between, the wedding party spent some time at Saigon Mall getting drinks before our photo session at Prairie Creek Park. The night ended with the reception at Caravelle to celebrate and dancing the night away. Here are some photos I wanted to share of their special day.

Beer Drinker's Society Work

Apologies for the lack of consistent updates. Lately I have been photographing for Beer Drinker's Society, an online presence promoting local and craft brews. They're a group of folks interviewing the communities of microbreweries, its people, news, and the stories behind the craft. I was fortunate to be brought onboard as a contributor through a good friend of mine, Ben Esely, who writes for them.

It's been a learning experience so far. I'm still left to my own devices when I'm photographing, so that part isn't any different, but the subject clearly is. I'm used to photographing weddings, bridals, and portraits. Environments I'm used to are floral, hold a lot of sunlight, and lots of white values.

 When it came to brewery environments, I haven't accounted for boiling aromas, the constant cleaning around breweries, metal clanking from kegs, and the colorful beer cans and bottle layouts that accompany them. It sounds like the antithesis of what I normally shoot, but it's not. It's remarkable in its own way.

Brewers I've photographed so far include Peticolas, Lakewood, Community, Firestone Walker, Deep Ellum, Firewheel, Austin Beerworks, Black Star, Pinthouse Pizza Brewpub, and most recently Armadillo Ale Works.

The Ly Family - 2013

Welcome to the New Year!

This past weekend I was commissioned to photograph the Ly family. Luan, the son in the family, is a good friend of mine and told me they wanted post-holiday family portraits. They went with a moderate gray for the background color, and wore medium blues for contrast.

I set up in one of the daughter's home where everyone met, and here are some from the session.
