Enter the mountains

The drive to New Mexico was a steady drive. We stopped on Interstate 40 in Texas to photograph this abandoned house while the sun was rising:



While on the same interstate, but across the border, we encountered a lost and lonely beagle. We pulled over promptly and dialed 911 to report the dog so they could contact animal services and save him:



A bit later, we start to catch a glimpse of the mountain ranges with the strong overcast clouds to provide a nice contrast:



Finally, we reached grandma's new house in Taos. I started to play around with the black and white settings in the camera since I normally convert in Photoshop:



Rochelle snapped this picture of the evasive Sydney while Bryan, Rochelle's cousin, and I were at The Alley Cantina in the plaza:



I'll leave this post with a tight view of what's hanging in the backyard. One of numerous birdfeeders and other creature comforts (and you wonder where Rochelle gets it from):

New Mexico

Rochelle and I will be on the road tomorrow morning as we head to Taos, New Mexico to visit her grandmother. I've been there once already and it was spectacular! The coldness of the white blanket across the mountains definitely is a sight to behold.

Her grandmother doesn't have internet there, so I may not be able to update with some pictures until I get back.

We rented out a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser, which I had to visit four different Enterprises due to a transitional period within the company, for the trip.

And of course while I'm packing, my cat Maxi (short for Maximus), comes over and plots himself in one of my bags. I wish I could take him, but he's not a dog that would stick their head out of the window.

Open Mic Night

I photographed Open Mic Night tonight at the university. Participants had three minutes to express themselves through a musical, poetic, or comedic act.

A few wildarts this week.

I just shot a few wildarts, standalone images in a newspaper, this week. They all revolve around the Fine Arts Building. The first was in the morning Monday when I get a text that one of the fountains was soaped. Then while I was photographing a drawing class today, a bunch of girls shrieked at the sight of toddlers playing in the fountain.

Last UTA Women's Basketball Game

It's been a while since I've photographed a sports game at The Shorthorn. I haven't taken the photo story approach to a sports game before, but this was my first attempt. The Mavericks dominated the entire game and ended up winning 91-58 against the Nicholls State Colonels. This was The Mavericks' final home game at Texas Hall.

Baby photoshoots

These past two Saturdays I photographed Mason, just under nine months, and Emily, a three month old. It was a nice change to work with children after photographing so many adults lately. Of course, there were some tears and sleepy eyes, but I think the pictures from both came out great!

We started off with some studio shots and then took Mason to the park.









For little Emily, we opted to stay out of the cold and shoot inside, where she got to sport her first Easter fashion.
