A few past assignments

Just showing a few assignments this month:

Before Spring Break, I covered a lecture by Dr. Ismail Mehr, who went with a humanitarian aid group to Gaza, and photographed reactions in the audience.

Dr. Mehr himself:

I also photographed Harvard anthropologist Richard Wrangham who discussed differences between eating raw and cooked foods and their evolutionary implications.

I took a trip down to Grapevine this past weekend to photograph the Gaylord Texan. Matt Deaton, the Gold Cowboy Living Statue was there, and told me he spooks about half the people that pose with him. The Red Hat Society, a social club for women over 60 flaunting red hats and purple attire, took a stop there while on their national tour.

Inside shot of the hotel.

A couple of model trains that circle around some planted trees.

Hank the stuffed cow.

Follow up New Mexico

The trip was a nice break overall. The rest of the pictures are below, starting with our trip to the Ski Valley to take some pictures.

Parking was hectic, but the staff provided courtesy shuttles, so our legs stayed intact.

Apparently faux crazy hair was a common sight with skiers.

A portion of the lift against the mountainous background.

Rochelle nice to a very stark red door belonging to one of the lodges.

Byran photographing with one of my cameras:

A face that I saw in the snow:

Rochelle freeing her gloves of snow:

Rochelle and I at the ski valley, look at my hair!

It looks like she's spying on the woman in the foreground:

A random skier:

Bryan trying not to slip on the ice:

Parts of a development sight for a future business on the ski valley:

The next day we visited the hot springs. We had to hike through the Rio Grande Gorge to the bottom. Apparently, horse-drawn carriages were a common sight back then. I definitely need to work out again!

Don't fall!

A view from above:

Up close and personal with some grass:

Rochelle showcasing a rock she found in the springs:

Looks like she's about to collapse after the hike back up to the car:

The next day we visited Mondo Kultur, a local coffee shop in Taos. There was so many people with laptops, myself included, and felt like a melting pot for tourist. I saw a young boy with some colorful construction clothing and photographed him in the coffee shop:

Back home, Bryan was reading while Rochelle was preparing some snacks:

A view from the backyard:

Another view:

Later we all went to Five Star Burgers, very filling, and I come across this:

I always photograph my plate whenever I order an item I haven't had before. If you look in the back, that's actually a mini-shopping cart full of sweet potatoes fries:

Later that day, we visited a consignment store and I was reminded of the shoes scene from The Wizard of Oz:

Some shoe shopping action!

One of many hat fittings:

A ribbon for me:

I'm in the backyard at home again and Rochelle and I spy the neighbor's cat. After many failed attempts to get a photograph of him exposed, I settled for one in the bushes:

Rochelle wanted some pictures of her in the backyard as well. I liked this one the best:

One of numerous birds in the backyard:

Spent St. Patrick's Day at the Taos Inn, where there was music and a "pot of gold" giveaway:

The next day, we walked to a morada just outside the Taos Plaza.

The contrail provided a nice shadow over the range:

Later we walked to a nearby gallery house and stopped by its pond:

Walking through the neighborhood, I saw some resemblance to the town Megaton in the video game Fallout 3:

Rochelle said that the figure was modeled after me when we passed the storefront:

We left at about 8 in the morning and photographed this in at an intersection. Note the button for horse riders:

We stopped by this dated gas station and I was reminded of the how the businesses did poorly in the movie Cars, but great in the end, except the highway didn't route to this particular gas station.

The last photograph in New Mexico.
