Changes and improvements

Hello everyone!

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know what I've been working on as of late, and where the future is taking me. I've modified my blog a bit to be more minimalistic and to show larger images within posts. Remember though, you can always click on any image embedded in my blog to open it larger, even those smaller images from previous posts.

To illustrate the new sizes, I wanted to show you a few photos from this weekend. There have been a lot of birthdays recently, and this weekend we celebrated two: my eldest brother, Sothea's, and his girlfriend, Helena's. Here they are with an awesome Katamari cake a friend made:

Lately I've been working on expanding my business more and really getting my name out there, and photography is very much a referral-based industry. I've ordered some new promotional materials and am really looking to all of you happy clients out there to spread the good word!

Helena and Sothea wanted to take some fun photos to send out in their holiday cards, and here are some silly poses that they struck:

As many of you know, I'm graduating in May with my BFA in photography. At that point, I will no longer be working for The Shorthorn, and will launch my business completely full time as my primary job and source of income. Starting in the spring, I'll start restructuring my price lists. I'm already scheduling holiday portraits and weddings for the next season, and am open to booking new ideas and requests. Shoot me an email or give me a call!

I'll close with a portrait of the birthday girl. Notice the Katamari prince on her head?:

Thanks to all my past and future clients, as well as all the friends and family that support me! You all are the best!

Anita's graduation portraits

Anita, is a Senior who is graduating from the University of Texas this December with a PR degree. We started our shoot at the Texas state capitol in Austin.

Anita leans on some doors marked with the official seal:

and leans over the balcony to survey the crowds below the rotunda:

After some searching, we finally found an empty staircase and took some shots:

I liked this photo because it seems to portray her in a calm, powerful stance; very fitting for someone about to graduate and take over the world!:

Here's a behind the scenes look at me taking a photo:

And a resulting image:

Then we headed out of the capitol and down some blocks to a secret location (Ok, so it's not so secret- but it's not where you'd expect it to be!)
Anita gives a cute grin:

a different take on the bright blue tiles:

Here's a diptych representing Anita looking towards her future:

A more serious face:

and to close, a closeup. Anita felt she had a rough time doing a neutral pose, but I think she pulled it off:

Congrats to Anita on her upcoming graduation, and keep an eye out for cap and gown photos as the date grows closer! All you other December grads, don't hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email!

Jason, 4 months

Meet Jason, a sweet 4 month old baby boy we photographed last week:

He started out dressed in a cute outfit, complete with baseball cap, and was all smiles, as these next two photos showcase:

The it was time for an outfit change. We decided to shoot a few between outfits however, because who doesn't love those baby rolls?:

Here Jason takes a peek at one of his photos, and seems very interested:

Jason shoots the camera a bashful look, as mom and dad sit on the couch in the background:

As it was getting later in the evening, we moved to a more comfortable location, so Jason could stretch out and relax. Here he pulls his blanket to his mouth, since he's in that stage of discovery where everything has to be tasted!:

We found a fuzzy friend to accompany him:

and then captured this adorable moment as he was wrapped up in his baby blue blanket:

After a tinkle accident (always a possibility with little ones!) we tried on some more exciting outfits. Here is Jason as a cow:

This next costume was very adorable! He's a pea pod:

He kept pulling his legs up and mouthing the "peas" on the costume, which almost made him look like a cute caterpillar:

We had a lot of fun shooting Jason, as we always do with the little ones. Don't forget, the holiday season is coming up! We'd love to see those Halloween costumes and take those holiday card photos; don't hesitate to schedule a shoot!
